High pistes in the Alps are in good shape right now and heavy falls of fresh snow are forecast for the next couple of days across the resorts of Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland. Once the weather settles again skiing conditions are expected to be excellent at all elevations.

An unsettled week of mountain weather lies ahead for skiers in the Alps. Following a weekend of excellent sunshine skiing on fresh snow, skies are now cloudy ahead of further snowfall due by midweek. When visibility improves all the leading alpine resorts will still be offering great skiing, especially on upper slopes.

Wonderful skiing right across the Alps this weekend as the sunshine has returned following significant falls of fresh snow in many resorts on Friday. The bulk of the fresh snow fell in Austria and Switzerland but many French and Italian resorts also caught enough to freshen pistes at all elevations.

Snow was falling right across the Alps through Friday with resorts in the northern Alps catching the heaviest falls, but very conveniently the skies will be clear this weekend and that means sunshine skiing on fresh snow will be on the menu so wonderful timing if you are heading to the Alps this weekend.

A cold front will sweep over the entire Alps through Friday and bring heavy snow to many resort, but the weather is expected to clear for the weekend and this means that fabulous ski conditions can be expected with sunshine and fresh dry snow on offer at all elevations.

Temperatures are mild in the Alps with spring like snow and skiing conditions now on offer in all the premier resorts. High pistes hold the best surfaces for skiers and with plenty of sunshine there is great sport available. On Friday however cooler air arrives and fresh snowfall is forecast.

The air is mild in the Alps now and snow conditions are beginning to suffer on lower slopes, as surface conditions become heavy to ski. The best skiing now is on high pistes in the higher elevations resorts where, above the freezing level, skiers through midweek will enjoy sunny spells and packed and groomed pistes conditions with still excellent snow cover.

Much milder air is moving over the Alps this week, with the freezing level rising well above resort elevation. This means that the best snow conditions are on the higher pistes. However lower slopes are still in good shape in most of the premier alpine resorts so with sunshine overhead there is lots of great skiing on offer across Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland.

Excellent sunshine skiing in the Alps currently with still healthy snow depths reported at all elevations by the leading resorts of Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland. The freezing levels is now higher than in recent weeks, rising to about 2000m through the day, so the very best snow conditions are now on upper slopes.

With pistes at all elevations open and holding decent snow cover, skiers heading to the Alps can expect excellent skiing, but on softening snow conditions.

Recent fine sunny weather across the Alps will be interrupted by fresh snowfall across the northern Alps as we head into the weekend and then mostly dry but milder air can be expected. Skiing conditions are excellent in all the premier alpine resorts with good snow cover at all elevations but do be aware of considerable avalanche risk off piste.

It is a great week to be skiing in the Alps as all the premier resorts have the best snow depths of the winter. Skiers are typically enjoying groomed powder snow surface conditions on piste and the skiing as good on lower slopes as at the higher elevations. The forecast for the week is mostly bright with occasional snow showers, most frequent in the western Alps.

Temperatures are cool enough for dry snow conditions to be maintained at all elevations and snow depths are good. So a very positive situation and a great time to be heading to the Alps for fun.

Overhead conditions in the Alps this weekend are a mix of sunshine, or cloud or snow showers but the snow conditions are consistently good with pistes typically offering dry powdery snow or firm packed groomed snow depending on elevation. But when the sun shines the skiing really is now as good as it has been all winter.

There are mixed overhead conditions in the Alps currently but in all the leading ski resorts the snow conditions are excellent. Typically skiers are enjoying fresh and deep dry snow cover on piste and when the sunshine breaks through the cloud, or just when visibility is clear, the skiing is as good as it has been all season.

The snow conditions in the Alps are now as good as they have been all winter and fresh falls of snow continue to be reported by many of the premier resorts. When the skies clear and the sun comes out the skiing will be excellent, but do take heed of local avalanche hazard warnings.

Fresh snow is falling in the Alps and there is more to come before the weekend. The forecast indicates unsettled and less cold weather for all alpine resorts and whilst overhead conditions may be poor for skiers the snow cover and piste conditions will improve significantly.

There is fresh snow falling right now in the northern Alps and the forecast indicates significant snow to come for the southern Alps before the weekend. This is all really excellent news for skiers as pistes in almost all the leading resorts had become hard and off piste very limited following the most recent extended period of sunshine.

The week ahead now looks quite wintry with snowfall first expected in the northern Alps and, later in the week, further snowfall along the southern Alps also. Skiers and then resorts will welcome this new snowfall as this will soften the many pistes where snow has become rather hard from the dry sunny and very cold conditions of the past week.
